Our Mission . . . .
We are a community of disciples of Christ: bound in covenant with God and one another, inspired by the Word of God, and strengthened by the faith and history we share. Our Mission is to help people connect with God.

About Us

Where Are We located?

We are located on the south side of the street at 312 West Main in Marshalltown, Iowa.  Here is a MapQuest link:   Map of 312 W Main St Marshalltown, IA 50158-5757, US.  Parking is available in the lot on the south side of our church building; on the street; and on Sunday mornings, across the street at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home.

We worship in an historic, circa 1913, building.  While our history in Marshalltown begins in 1868, our roots on the North American shore began with the Pilgrims in 1620.

Our Sunday Services:

Visitors are always welcome.  Our schedule for worship services can be found here.  As  you enter our sanctuary (dress is casual) you will be greeted by one of our members wearing a name tag.  They will provide you with a weekly bulletin that will guide you through the service.  Information packets are also available for visitors.

Our services will typically include:
  • Greetings, announcements and any cares and concerns.
  • Music: The service includes inspirational music from our bell choir, chancel choir, piano and organ duets, singing of hymns, and occasional special musical presentations.
  • Reading of the Word by Lay Members.
  • A children's message (that usually relates to the adults as well).
  • A heart-felt message from Pastor Barry Holmes that applies to our daily lives.
  • A time for meditation and prayer.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is offered each quarter (see our calendar of events).  Everyone is invited to take part in Communion.

Following the service, join us for fellowship, coffee and cookies on the lower level.

What Is the Congregational Way?

The Congregational Way is a way of following Christ. People of a Congregational Church do not seek to be led by a creed, but by the Spirit. Ours is the tradition of a free church, gathered under the headship of Christ and bound to others by love, not law.  Click here for more information on the Congregational Way.

  • We celebrate Jesus Christ as the head of the church.

  • We recognize the Bible is God's authoritative word.

  • We embrace the church as God's family in faith.
